Message from the Founding President,
Chef Trustee
Dear Friends, Wellwishers, Dedicated Volunteers and Respected Members of our Community,
Let me introduce myself first.
I am Mr. Rabindra Sharma, born in 2030 B.S. in Mahindra Jyoti – an area that now falls under Banepa Municipality Ward No. 12, Kavrepalanchok District. I am the youngest child of the late Achyutananda Wagle and the late Goma Wagle. I completed my school education at Mahendra Secondary School, Sanga, and went on to pursue my studies up to Bachelor of Laws at Nepal Law Campus.
My heart for serving the community grew right from my school days, as I always found myself drawn towards social work and helping those in need. For many years, I was actively involved with the Red Cross, standing alongside people and extending support during various emergencies and natural calamities. Along this path of service, I was also blessed with opportunities to visit and learn from the practices of many organisations across different countries including Japan and Thailand, experiences that deeply shaped how I look at community welfare today.
Professionally, my journey began in 1991 working at a bakery. In 1996, I took up my first international work assignment in Dubai, and over more than three decades, I have built my career across the culinary and hospitality industry. I have served in key roles at many distinguished establishments: I served as Kitchen Manager and International Department Trainer at Multinational company . I moved to the United Kingdom on a work permit in 2010, and went on to take up senior positions as Head Chef and Back of House Manager at reputable organisations.
Since 2016, I have made my permanent home here in the Midlands, United Kingdom, where I live happily with my wife, daughter and son.
Alongside my professional life, my commitment to social causes has never faded. I have served as an Advisor to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), and during my tenure as President of Nepalese Samaj Nottingham EM , – a registered charity – we founded the Midlands Nepali Mela to promote Nepali art, culture and tourism to wider audiences. As of 2026, this beloved annual event has already reached its fourth edition.
It is this same devotion to our roots and our people that brought Kavre Society UK into being. We envisioned and formally established this organisation virtually over Zoom, during the difficult days of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown – a time when staying connected and supporting one another mattered more than ever. My vision was clear: to unite people hailing from Kavrepalanchok living across the United Kingdom, and to keep our bond with our home district strong and purposeful. I served as its Founding President, and presently, I continue to guide and oversee the organisation as its Chief Patron and Caretaker, ensuring that our founding values and missions are always upheld with transparency and dedication.
I wish to state it very clearly: Kavre Society UK is not influenced or guided by any political party or ideology, and all forms of political activities within the organisation are strictly prohibited. Likewise, discrimination of any kind on the basis of language, geography, ethnicity, religion, caste, colour or class shall not be tolerated under any circumstances or conditions. We stand firmly on the foundation of equality, unity and mutual respect for all.
From the very start, educational support has been the core of our work. We run an ongoing scholarship programme that provides assistance to around two dozen bright but financially disadvantaged students across Nepal, managed in full coordination with schools, guardians and students to ensure full transparency and meaningful results. Over time, our activities have grown to include bringing our community closer together, preserving our heritage, extending help to those in need both here and back home, and building a legacy of service for generations ahead.
None of our progress would have been possible without your trust, the hard work of our volunteers, and the support of each one of you. Let us keep moving forward together, to build a stronger, kinder and more united community.
